Pastor Vernell Melvin was born in Cumberland County and is a native of Fayetteville, NC. Growing up, he encountered many challenges and obstacles. But God would soon use his obstacles for His glory.
Pastor Vernell Melvin, affectionately referred to as Pastor V, graduated from Cape Fear High School and went on to pursue higher education at Fayetteville Technical Community College. He was trained to become an Industrial Fire Fighter and licensed Building Contractor. Also, Pastor V. Melvin earned his Chemical Operator Technician’s Certificate from the state of North Carolina Department of Labor and worked as a chemical technician for over 46 years until retiring October 31, 2017.
Pastor Vernell Melvin is a devoted husband of 50 plus years to Pastor Jurutha Melvin. To this union, God blessed them with two daughters- Apostle Lakisha Melvin Dunham and Dr. Monica Melvin.
In addition to the blessings, a precious grandson: Josiah Vernell Dunham.
Pastor V’s level of commitment, integrity, loyalty, honesty, and genuine heart to please God, he has faithfully served in various ministries for over 5 decades. His attitude of servitude includes custodial work, building construction and maintenance, armor bearer, Sunday School teacher, elderly care, youth department, nursing homes, prison ministry, marriage/family support, men’s empowerment, book-keeper and treasurer. Pastor V has ministered and prayed for hundreds of people while serving in ministry. Pastor V has fulfilled every vision that they were assigned at any given time. He and his lovely wife are greatly known for their personal hospitality in their home where they have fed, clothed, and ministered to countless individuals. They have “shepherded” God’s flock for decades without titles or positions because their only motive is to serve people and please God.
Pastor V faithfully serves as Registered Agent, Board Member and Assistant Pastor of Greater Harvest Global Ministries, Incorporated. His personal philosophy is to always have an answer or at least be able to guide humanity in the right direction in order to receive guidance according to the Word of God. He bases his philosophy on Matthew 7:12- Therefore all things whatsoever, ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets. In other words, “Do Unto Others As You Will Have Them Do Unto You” --Serve others the way you want to be served--Lead by example, by showing, and explaining and do it all with Love:
